Supporting Cancer Care With Vibracoustic Therapy

The Journey Through Cancer

Diagnosis of cancer turns your world upside down. Therapies result in fatigue, pain, and sleep deprivation. Mental loads of stress, fear, and uncertainty also weigh heavily. Most crave comforting practices that go along with their treatment.

Here at Rooted in Sound, we believe that sound can be a gentle companion on this journey. Perhaps one of the most gentle ways we give is Vibroacoustic Therapy (VAT).

What Is Vibroacoustic Therapy?

Sound therapy uses vibration and frequency to feed the body and calm the mind. During Vibroacoustic Therapy, low-frequency sound waves are passed through a sound table, sound cloud, or cushion.

The body absorbs these vibrations directly, relaxing muscles, calming the nervous system, and allowing deep relaxation. Many people describe it as "being bathed in sound from the inside out."

How VAT Can Help?

Stress Relief

Research has shown that sound therapies have been proven to alleviate anxiety and calm the body. In one study in Integrative Cancer Therapies (Garcia-Gil et al., 2020), vibroacoustic treatment reduced stress in therapy patients.

Pain Management

Pain is a common issue with cancer. VAT has the ability to ease muscle tension and play a role in pain reduction. The American Journal of Hospice and Palliative Medicine (Wahbeh et al., 2007) published a study that showed vibroacoustic therapy brought relief to those with severe illness.

Better Sleep

Recovery requires sleep. Sound-induced relaxation has been found to give way to less disrupted sleep, enabling mind and body to mend.

Emotional Balance

Sound also touches the heart. Clients often leave sessions feeling more relaxed, lifted, and peaceful. VAT has been linked with reduced depression and anxiety and enhanced overall well-being.

A Gentle Companion

Vibroacoustic Therapy is not a cure for cancer. It is a positive, complementary therapy that works best alongside medical treatment. Its job is to provide comfort, fortitude, and balance at a difficult time.

We believe healing is not just about treatments, but about being held in community and care. If sound feels like something that could support you or a loved one, Rooted in Sound is here to offer a safe place to rest, restore, and be supported.
