Course Description:
Begin your journey to becoming a trauma-informed practitioner with this comprehensive introductory workshop. Learn about trauma, what trauma-informed care consists of and how to apply it to the practitioner/client relationship and interactions. Explore how loving-kind awareness of our own trauma-responses and that of others can help us build a foundation as a trauma-informed practitioner.
Course Objectives:
Challenge common myths through learning about trauma and providing care in a trauma-informed manner.
Learn what happens in our body/mind as a result of trauma, including how the body holds trauma.
Learn about the window of tolerance and begin to explore what it looks like when we and others are in the window of tolerance or not.
Identify some ways that trauma can reveal itself in the practitioner/client experience.
Learn the foundational aspects of providing trauma-informed care.
Begin to identify how to apply these aspects to different stages of your professional practice.
Identify how you can continue to grow as a trauma-informed practitioner.
