Course Description:

Learn all about Handpans from our very talented handpan maker Luc Dupuis and local handpan legend, Justin Pitters.  Luc will bring handpans for everyone to use a play.  This course is perfect for those who have never played a handpan, or beginners who would like to make sure they have their basic skills down just right.  

Course Objectives:

• Understand the history of how handpans came into existence. 

• Listen to and play a variety of handpans of different keys and scales

• Hear how different metals create different timbres

• Know what to look for when purchasing a handpan

• Learn the proper technique to create clear tones on your handpan

• Explore simple melodic and  rhythmic patterns to create beautiful music

Who Can Take This Course?

This course is open to both the general public and to students of Rooted in Sound Academy Canada. 

Number of Credit Hours for School of Sound Students:

This course is worth 8 hours towards School of Sound elective hours.  If you take this course and then decide to join School of Sound at a later date, you will be credited these hours.
